About The County of Kent - Kent has an approximate admin population of 1,260,000 and total area population of 1,671,000 (2005). Kent is most south eastern county in England. Kent's county town is Maidstone and the only city in Kent is Canterbury, which is the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Kent borders East Sussex, Surrey and Greater London, and a defined boundary with Essex which is in the middle of the Thames estuary. The county of Kent includes the unitary authority of Medway, Kent also has a tiny border with France at the halfway point of the Channel Tunnel. Situated between London and the continent, Kent is a primary trading route. Kent is known as the Garden of England.
